Something To Think About

We meet across the miles
via the internet
a new medium
one which challenges
our beliefs
our way of life
We used to meet at work
at church
in bars
and get to know one another.
Now we meet in a chat room
and become connected quickly
we share our hopes and fears
with strangers
who become friends
and sometimes lovers
in cybertime
and real time perhaps
if the distance is not too great.
Is this the way it will be
from now on?
Are we destined to spend our time
in cyberspace
rather than being together
face to face
skin to skin?
Where will this lead us?
Where will it end
Our world gets smaller and smaller
Will it be reduced
to a room with a computer?
