Toastmasters: Developing Leadership Skills Through Communication

Pembroke & Area Toastmasters
Club #5833

Pembroke, Ontario, Canada

WELCOME TO TOASTMASTERS!!!

The Pembroke & Area Toastmasters Club was chartered in May 1985.
We celebrated our 25th Anniversary in May 2010.

The Pembroke & Area Toastmasters Club is one of 5 Toastmasters clubs now serving the Ottawa Valley area. Anyone 18+ years old is invited to attend as a guest and explore the benefits of the Toastmasters program. You do not have to call in advance and you do not need to join at your first meeting. It is recommended that you come and experience the meetings before deciding to join as a member. You can start at any meeting. Experience does not matter - if you have been looking for a way to overcome a fear of public speaking or further develop your skills, Toastmasters has something to offer.

Toastmasters International, formed in 1924, is the largest non-profit organization in the world dedicated to helping individuals develop and improve public speaking and/or leadership skills. More than 195,000 members belong to Toastmasters International through 9600 clubs in more than 80 countries.

In keeping with the concept of a "Club", Toastmasters is not a course of study but an opportunity for members to self-pace and focus on those goals which are of importance to them. Every meeting each member will have at least one opportunity to voluntarily speak in public - that public being the club membership. These speaking opportunities vary from short prepared speeches, to impromptu speaking, to emceeing, to just introducing yourself, all in a very supportive environment.
